Top 5 Best New Features in Revit 2025.3

revit update Oct 22, 2024

A new Revit update is here: 2025.3

Watch the video:

Here are the most interesting features:

1- Revit Add-Ins Managers

DiRoots released a free plugin manager a couple of years ago, which you can download right here.

This allows you to activate/deactivate Revit plugins easily without uninstalling them. Too many plugins can make Revit slow, so it's good to deactivate those you don't need.

Autodesk now released its own version called the "Add-Ins Manager." You will find the tool in the Manage tab.

You can easily see the full list of plugins, along with the vendor. However, an exciting feature that DiRoots doesn't have is load time. For example, we can see that pyRevit takes an extra 10.9 seconds to load when you open Revit. Activate and deactivate the checkboxes to

However, this doesn't allow you to pre-create "profiles" with different kinds of add-ins enabled, like in the DiRoots version.

If you don't have Revit 2025.3, DiRoots is still a great alternative.

2- Spell Check in Text Editor

The text editor now has a spell-check feature, along with recommended words.

3- Duplicate Layers of Compound Elements

You can now duplicate layers inside compound elements.

4- Recenter Room Reference Lines and Room Tags

All rooms in Revit have reference lines that can be moved. In the course of a project, these lines can end up in somewhat random places far from the center. Room tags can also end up at room corners instead of being centered.

There is now a tool called "Re-Center Reference". As you can see below, you can recenter the reference. Then, you can select the room tag and recenter based on the lines.

Instead of adjusting the reference lines one at a time, go to the room dropdown menu and select "re-center reference." This affects all rooms in the active view.

5- PDF Export Status

Since the previous update, you can now export a PDF in the background while still working on a model.

In this update, Autodesk added a status bar for PDF export. First, you will see this dialog box:

Then, the dialog goes away and you can work on your model. However, there is a new icon at the bottom right of the screen. Click on it and you'll see the progress of the PDF export.

When finished, you will also see a popup:

Extra features:

  • Electrical circuits: improved the panel connection dialogue to include the panel name with the issue.
  • New Dynamo: Upgraded Dynamo Core to version 3.2.2.
  • IFC Rebar: Rebar sets with bars of the same length are now grouped together when exported to IFC.
  • IFC Ceilings: added the ability to optionally export ceilings grids to IFC.
  • Plan Region: Added the ability to cut DirectShape geometry by plan region.
  • Structural Loads: Improved the user experience for defining and managing load cases and combinations.
  • UI: Minor user interface adjustments. See full list here.
